Important Information for Participants of the Tournament

To ensure the success of the “2024 Mölkky World Championship in Hakodate,” we kindly ask for the cooperation of all participants. Please read the following guidelines carefully.

Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated to make this a successful event for everyone involved.

Free Spectator Access

The championship allows free access to watch world-class matches (entry to the court area is restricted to players only). There will also be booths selling merchandise, workshops, and food trucks available.

Match Information


Gathering on 24th August:

The team representative must check in at the tournament headquarters within the designated time for each Preliminary Round block, collect participation awards and silicon bands for all team members.

Gathering on 25th August:

Based on the results of the Preliminary Rounds on the 24th, teams will advance to either the Finals Tournament or the Friendly Tournament. There is no check-in process on the 25th. Players should go directly to the court, wearing their silicon bands.

Arrival Times:

Different start times apply for the qualifying rounds, Finals Tournament, and Friendly Tournament. Check the schedule in advance and ensure to arrive at the court 5 minutes before the match to prepare, determine the throwing order, and set up the scoreboard.

Practice Area


Practice: Use the designated practice area with your own Mölkky set.

22nd August: N.I.T Hakodate College, 12:00-18:00

23rd August: Showa Park, 10:00-17:00

Practice on 24th and 25th August: Practice is allowed in areas that do not interfere with matches. Do not obstruct early morning court setup.

Event Continuation, Cancellation, and Delays


The tournament will proceed in the rain unless there are dangerous conditions like lightning. Please bring rain gear as necessary.

In case of cancellation, notifications will be posted on the official website and sent via email by the day before the event. 

Cancellation criteria include:

-Government or local authority advisories or requests for event cancellation.

-Weather warnings (heavy rain, strong wind, floods, heavy snow) or disaster impacts in the event area.

-Disruption of transportation making it difficult for participants to attend, or the potential for secondary disasters.

-Inability to secure key personnel for event operation.

Schedule changes may occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

■Transportation (Temporary Parking, Shuttle Buses, and Other Means)

Other Transportation: Bicycle and motorcycle parking is available, but space is limited.
Parking Rules: Illegal parking, unauthorized parking at nearby facilities, and causing inconvenience to the neighborhood are prohibited.

Outfit and Health Management


Footwear: No entry with spikes, leather shoes, or heels. Please wear sneakers or athletic shoes.

Weather Preparation: Dress appropriately for sudden temperature changes. Bring rain gear if needed.

Heatstroke Prevention: Manage your health by taking breaks and staying hydrated. Free water dispensers will be available at multiple locations within the court area. Bring your own bottles as paper cups will not be provided.

Shaded grassy areas are available in Showa Park, and indoor classrooms are available at N.I.T. Hakodate College for rest.

A first-aid room with medical staff will also be available.

Venue Usage Guidelines


Venue Areas: The venue is divided into the Court Area and the Player Rest Area. Please use the Player Rest Area for your breaks.

We kindly ask you to share the limited space available in the venue with consideration for others.

Court Area:

Only participants are allowed to enter the Court Area.

Hydration is permitted within the Court Area, but eating, drinking alcohol, and smoking are prohibited. Please use the Player Rest Area or available spaces around the venue for meals.

Player Rest Area:

You are welcome to create shade in ways that do not inconvenience others, but pegging tents is prohibited. The Player Rest Area has many shaded spots (N.I.T Hakodate College will open some classrooms for resting).

You may bring chairs and leisure sheets, but please ensure they do not inconvenience others.

Additional Information:

There are cloakrooms for storing luggage and places where you can send your luggage nationwide (for a fee).

At Showa Park, please smoke in designated areas.

Smoking is completely prohibited on the premises of N.I.T. Hakodate College. There are no smoking areas on the premises, and drinking alcohol is also prohibited. No alcoholic beverages will be sold.

Please manage your belongings, including valuables, at your own risk. The tournament organizers are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

■Prohibited Activities


Prohibited Items: The use of open flames or dangerous items prohibited by law is not allowed, except in food trucks.

Prohibited Actions: Unauthorized drone or RC plane flights, flyer distribution, demonstrations, rallies, speeches, unauthorized sales, unauthorized filming, and damage or defacement of facilities are prohibited.
Parking Violations: Avoid illegal parking and actions that inconvenience the neighborhood.

Waste Management


Waste Disposal: Take your trash home or use designated bins (burnable, non-burnable, PET bottles).

Vendor Waste: Vendors are responsible for collecting waste from their sales.
Littering: Please dispose of any litter you see. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Viewing and Filming Etiquette


Viewing: Watch matches from outside the court area without disturbing the players. Entry to the court area is restricted to participants only.

Filming: Obtain permission from those around you before filming. Do not obstruct matches. If necessary, staff may ask you to move or stop filming. Get consent from the opposing team before posting on social media.

Unauthorized filming, recording, or streaming of celebrities is prohibited.

Additional Information


Photos and Videos: Be aware that photos and videos taken at the event may be used by JMA or participants and published on the internet.
Compliance: Follow staff instructions. Disruptive behavior or actions that inconvenience others may result in disqualification from the event.
